Hey girl, hey,
Let’s talk.
I fell in love with walking in 2023, and honestly? It changed my life.
Back then, I was 270 pounds, uncomfortable in my body, and not in a good place mentally. My knees hurt. My back hurt. I was on high blood pressure meds, pre-diabetic, and I felt like crap every single day. I was drinking too much wine, making jokes about myself to cover up how bad I felt, and just trying to power through because I had a business to run, a family to take care of, and people counting on me.
But I was tired. Physically, mentally, emotionally. And I didn’t recognize myself anymore.
I had my last drink on April 9, 2023.On April 10, I got up and went for a walk.
Nothing fancy. Just me and my husband walking around our neighborhood. 3 to 4 miles every day. Rain or shine. We talked. We didn’t talk. We just moved. He’s always been so supportive, and those early walks with him helped me get out of my head and into my body again.
I started changing the way I ate.Started taking better care of myself.Started choosing me.
Now here we are.
Almost two years later. Down almost 90 pounds. Had some surgery to help with loose skin. Still working. Still walking.
These days, I walk anywhere from 5 to 8 miles a day. This week? I’ve been averaging 7 miles every single day. I pop in a podcast or just walk in silence. Sometimes I walk with music, sometimes I walk with God. Most times I record a TikTok encouraging y’all to get up and walk. It’s truly become my time.
It’s wild how something so simple can unlock so much healing. Walking has helped me process stress, clear my mind, and remind myself that I’m strong. That I’m still in here.
If you’re in a season where everything feels heavy…your body, your life, your emotions, I see you.
Start small. Lace up your sneakers. Walk around the block. Then do it again tomorrow.
More soon 💛
